Exhaust With A Heart

Here’s another heart warming story about my little friend “Kirra”. You may have read in previous posts that she has made heart & swirl shapes for me especially to put in my blog and she often gets her mum to send me photos of the heart shaped things she has seen.

This is a photo of a car that pulled up near us one day and, as you can see, the number plates not only had her name on it … with the correct spelling I may add … and it also had her current age … 7!!!

We just had to take a photo because it was too much of a coincidence to ignore.  And that’s not all … not only did the little car bear her name and her age … but it had a little heart shaped exhaust!!!!

Yep, I kid you not and here is the photo evidence to prove it.  So if this isn’t evidence that the universe is looking after this little cherub I don’t know what is.

Thanks Kirra for today’s blog inspiration (yet again!!).  When you’re old enough to drive this little car would be perfect for you!!  🙂  🙂

The Way To A Man’s Heart…

Happy Valentines Day to all my loved ones!!!  The romantic side of me is definitely out and proud today … especially riding on the back of our 25 yr wedding anniversary last week!!

Well they say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach … so what culinary delight did I spoil my valentine with tonight for dinner?  A heart-shaped pizza of course!!   Yes, it was totally made from scratch by my own fair hands … and expertly cooked in our pizza oven by the MOTH (man of the house!!)

Vegetarian for me, 1st photo (mushrooms, artichokes, olives, roast pepper, capers and topped off with marinated Persian feta  🙂 ) … meat & seafood for him, at right (including fresh crab meat caught by a friend’s son in Adelaide over the weekend).

Ahhh … what a treat it was … yummy yummy down to the last morsel … there was not a crumb left to spare!!  The pizza base is a whole wheat recipe … it’s not a secret … so if anyone wants the recipe just leave a comment and I will send it to you (or email me julie@virtualangel.com.au)

Good Enough To Eat

Mmmmmmm baked cheesecake … with not one, but two swirls!!!!!

Not much to say about this tasty little delight except that:

1.  It was only half a portion … I shared the other half with my friend … so we were both only half as naughty!!

2.  We were celebrating my friend’s birthday so we told ourselves that this was definitely a special occasion to lash out and have dessert!!

2.  The swirls on the plate were definitely a sign from the universe that I should eat and enjoy it without any guilt!!

3.   It was thoroughly delectable and we enjoyed every mouthful!!  🙂 Yum Yum !!

Heart Reef

Who couldn’t help but get caught up in the promotional hype of the recent Oprah Winfrey visit!!  A bit OTT (over the top) for some … but I did think that her Australian Adventure special that aired on TV last night showed Australia’s best to the rest of the world. I couldn’t help but be proud of the beautiful images shown of Uluru, Sydney Harbor, Hamilton Island, and the Barrier Reef, to name just a few.

The most exciting part for me is when she flew in a helicopter over the Great Barrier Reef and hovered over a beautiful coral reef in the shape of a perfect heart … “Heart Reef”.  This naturally formed reef was discovered in 1975 by a Whitsunday pilot and is only 17 metres across.  I’d like to think that it’s the heart of the Great Barrier Reef itself!

When I saw the gorgeous blue water and the beautiful little heart shaped reef I decided that the Whitsundays was the perfect romantic getaway I had been looking for to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in February.  So Hamilton Island here we come in a few weeks … I’m going to look into booking a helicopter ride over Heart Reef too … how romantic would that be!!  I wonder if I can also get Curtis Stone to whip us up a beach bbq like he did for Oprah!!!!

A Swirl Of Protection

Isn’t it funny how children are sometimes so much more naturally inquisitive, intuitive and switched on that they help you see things you may have simply overlooked!!

My neighbour’s children were asking me yesterday what a “blog” was and what I was writing about in my blog.  I explained it was a bit of fun I was having finding 1 heart or 1 swirl a day, taking a photo of it, posting it on my blog and writing a little story to go with it.  They seemed marginally interested, and I thought it was maybe because they didn’t understand what it was all about.

Well how wrong could I be!!!  The new concept of a blog obviously took a little time to sink in to their necktop information system (aka the brain!!!) and then “whamo” their creativeness and eagerness to be involved kicked in!  Early this morning they came running over with an idea they had for my blog … an object they had thought of which was shaped as a swirl … something I had not even given an inkling of a thought about and yet I had been handling these objects every day for the past 3 weeks!!!!!   A mosquito coil !!!  We are holidaying on The Murray River and because it is in flood, the mosquitos are rampant and we’ve been burning these coils pretty much non stop!

So these little green swirls have been faithfully looking after us all by slowly sending out their little grey tendrils of scented smoke and warding off the pesky mozzies.  So as I said in my very first post … “gotta love a good swirl” !!!!

Words Not Always Required…

Don’t you love this cute little guy?  We paid a visit to the local video library the other day (why do they still call them video libraries when we can only get DVD or Blu-ray now???) and this little guy is part of their marketing/advertising material.  So I snapped him and added my little bit of creativity!!!!

The weather was lousy and we couldn’t do our normal daily holiday activities so we thought it was a good day to cosy up and be couch potatoes for a day.  So there we were, my son and I, finally forced to spend an entire day in each other’s company … something we haven’t done for such a long time … he is 13 and hanging with Mum is not on the top of his list of cool things to do!!!!  We both had a blast though … eating lollies, drinking soft drink while lying on the couch and sharing a blanket!   Even though we weren’t having in-depth conversations, and trying to solve the problems of the world, it was still a lovely way to spend the day with each other, sharing a laugh and just enjoying each other’s company without any interruptions.  Words aren’t always required when the heart is doing the talking!!!!  :-))
